Green Battery Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Kotaro Okada; hereinafter “the Company”) is pleased to announce that construction has officially commenced on its grid-scale battery storage project (hereinafter “the Project”) currently under development in Otsuki City, Yamanashi Prefecture.

Project Overview

This Project involves a grid-scale battery storage facility directly connected to the power grid, designed to provide “adjustment capacity” — a resource of growing importance as the adoption of renewable energy continues to expand.

Through this Project, the Company will engage in power trading by utilizing the demand-supply adjustment market, wholesale electricity market, and capacity market, contributing to the stabilization of power supply and demand balance.

Background & Significance

In recent years, Japan has seen rapid growth in renewable energy adoption. However, securing sufficient adjustment capacity to manage the variability of power generation output has become a critical challenge.

Grid-scale battery storage systems are expected to serve as essential infrastructure — absorbing gaps between power supply and demand to stabilize the grid, while supporting the further expansion of renewable energy across the country.
